Hip Hop Culture for Grown-Ups
Two years ago today, I wrote my first post here, celebrating how I’d left my old host, Blogger, to make WordPress my new home.
Two years later, not only is the site still thriving, but it’s long since had an official domain name change & is slowly but surely making it’s way around the internets.
So far, RWDP’s been mentioned &/or linked from The Smoking Section, DallasPenn.com, HipHopIsRead.com, Complex, Bboycult.com, DayandADream.com, LattisawTapes.com, & other digispots here & there.
It’s also been shouted out by the likes of The Combat Jack Show feat. Dallas Penn & On Yo Ass! Starring Federal Ranga.
Needless to say, people love it enough to keep coming back…Or hate it so much that they refuse to stay away, like some sort of online Stockholm syndrome (without the kidnapping & brainwash techniques).
Whatever the case, I see momentum building. I’m absolutely positive I don’t know exactly what it’s building up to, but nevertheless–building.
I try & present the lighter sides of Hip Hop (& society in general) in the midst of me keeping it [as] real as I can. & that means doing so even if it’s not real to others. Some years back, I learned that the needs of the many outweigh the wants of the few, so as long as the many make their presence known, the few that don’t like it don’t count. (If that makes any sense.)
Shoutout to Phlip. Dude stays on his NBA game & I appreciate it. I hope y’all do, too.
Extra fat Redman video chick shoutout to y’all who read & subscribe & comment & reblog & “like” & click the thumbs up. It shows that the work put into this website is not in vain.
If you guys want to drop a little change in the proverbial donation bucket, kinda like a birthday gift, I’d appreciate it (especially since I have to pay my yearly subscription fees this month). & if you guys have ideas or whatever – RAWIFDP@yahoo.com – holla. There’s always room for more content, more music, more thought provocation.
Happy birthday, RWDP! 2 years down.
