All Jaden Smith Needs Now Is A DJ Named Jeff

The new fresh prince?

Words by Tony Grands

It seems as though Jaden Smith is finally catching up to his DNA.

For those that don’t know, Jaden’s father Will Smith ran circles around rap music as The Fresh Prince (with his DJ, Jazzy Jeff) for years in the late 1980s and early 90s. He eventually made a full transition from the music biz to Tinsel Town but not before apparently lighting the torch and placing it somewhere that young Jaden could reach it when he was ready to. Though he may not be at 100% yet, he is well on his way.

While Willow Smith, Jaden’s less visual sister, only dabbles in-and-out of a playful, flirtatious relationship with music, Jaden has clearly made the decision to show the raposphere what’s in his blood. And not for nothing, Jaden Smith is lightyears beyond any other sons or daughters of rap. While his style isn’t as straightforward and playful as the Fresh Prince’s was, he clearly possess a knack for witty banter and shrew word placement. To say the least, I’m a bit impressed by and somewhat proud of Jaden.

When we were young Hip Hoppers, we’d often discuss what it would be like when our favorite MCs had kids. This, for the most part, is what I thought it’d be like.

Check out the new fresh prince and sound off in the c-section.
