Throwback Thursday: Morgan Freeman As Malcolm X In “Death of a Prophet”

image

“Death of a Prophet” is the story of Malcolm X’s last day on earth, starring Hollywood’s forever man, Morgan Freeman.

The movie, written by Wooden King, Jr., premiered in 1981 as a made-for-television drama. Amiri Baraka and Ossie Davis appear also.

There is no new information about Detroit Red or his life being uncovered in this film, which runs 60 minutes, but it’s a small piece of Hollywood history that you probably would not know about otherwise.

Long live Morgan Freeman.
