Training Day is arguably Denzel Washington’s best movie. Hollywood agreed, because he won an Academy Award for playing a drugged-up, alcoholic, crooked, killer cop. This movie connected with the City of LA in a way that people hadn’t seen since “Colors.” Maybe not by industry standards, but in the court of public opinion, Training Day is definitely classic American cinema.
So we weren’t surprised to hear that CBS has picked up the legendary flick to be a dramatic series on the network. The show will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, who brought us the first two Bad Boys movies with Antoine Fuqua, Training Day‘s original director back behind the camera. The show is set in the future in Los Angeles and there hasn’t been any word on the cast of characters, but we can only hope that officer Hoyt stars as the main character. Who cares if it’s Ethan Hawke? Although, that would be pretty dope.
Before we get too excited, let’s remember the ill-fated Beverly Hills Cop TV show. After much fanfare and hoopla, the show was scrapped in exchange for a new movie project. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
Stay tuned for coming details Training Day, the television series.
