The Real Reason Drake Sold Over 600,000 Copies of “Views” in 1 Night

For months, Drake has been preparing us for the release of his album Views from the 6, which dropped last Friday. If you ask me, the wave really began when Meek Mill declared war on Drake.

Drake used that momentum to get us prepared for his next offering, and he even let us know he was taking a break from recording the album to respond to Meek during their conflict last year. If you listen to the tail end of Back To Back, Drake makes the reference “I took a break from Views, now it’s back to that, 6!” Shortly before releasing the album online, Drake shortened the name of the release to simply Views, dropping the “from the 6” for whatever reason. That let me know right there that this album was going to be something other than what we were looking for. And clearly he knew it too, because he changed the name, then dropped the album immediately after.
